The following is a video highlighting the importance of early intervention. RTI (Response to Intervention) is the buzz word in K-12 public education. Early childhood development and recognizing any developmental delays is essentially RTI at its best. It is proven time and again that getting children the help they need to be successful, even as early as 8 months, is crucial for the child's later success in life.

This blog is currently used for current and future educators in the early childhood field to share ideas and knowledge. More research is showing that early childhood education is increasingly crucial to a child's success in school and in life as a whole. It is a personal passion of mine to help provide the quality education needed for successful future citizens as well as provide quality child care for working parents.

Hi Melanie,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post and the video. It is true that though there are many misconceptions about very young children and what they can handle, but it is equally misleading about how advanced they can be even as early as 8 months when it comes to various aspects of development.
I have enjoyed getting your perspectives on the various topics discussed during this course and am certain that the profession of early childhood education will benefit from your presence. Good Luck!

Melanie,
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice video that you shared. I think it's a great idea to help children early on to get help, and it also helps in easing a parent's mind about whether or not there is something that they are missing.

This was great! I agree with you that early intervention is key in appropriating help for children with disabilities. This reminds me of the topic we covered about assessments and labeling. We must educate parents about the developmental milestones and bring to their attention that they are not alone. Good post. Thanks. I wish you much success in your pursuit of taking your profession in the Early Childhood Field to the next level.
